Stool planning tips:
Seat height
For ease of movement allow approximately 12 inches between stool seat and counter. That means that for a standard 36-inch high kitchen countertop the stool seat height should be 22-24 inches and for a 40-inch bar/cocktail countertop the stool seat height should be 28-30 inches.
Number of stools
Add 3-4 inches to the width of the stool, then divide the countertop length by that number. For example, a stool that is 16 inches wide needs at least a 20 inch wide space and a 72-inch long counter can accommodate three stools that are 16" wide.
Remember that large people need more width, as do stools with armrests.
